For the win.

Yesterday was about six different kinds wonderful. Allow me to tell you why.

Start off with brunch at Local 188. While the waiters and patrons are mostly comprised of cool hipster kids who think mustaches are the perfect companion to skinny jeans and they didn't get our order quite right the first time, the food was delicious and it was nice to leisurely spend the late morning chatting it up with Tina. It didn't hurt that I has remembered to pack the card game Blink, which totally gets your heart pumping.

From there, we went to find someone who had the world cup match between USA and England. After a couple duds, we got to Linda Beans on Exchange St. Overpriced lobster rolls, but just right happy hour specials and we got there just in time to grab a primo seat as the players came on to the field. Now, I don't particularly enjoy watching sports. But being in that environment made the energy infectious. You could not help but root for SOMEONE. And when the USA managed to squeak out that one goal, it was nothing short of amazing. I was there for that bit of history with good people and a pint in my hand.

As if my day was not already great, we also went contra dancing. It's the first time I've been in years upon years. So many of the same faces, caught in the contra time zone where they look exactly the same. The dancing was wonderful and I don't think I stopped smiling the whole time. We left covered in sweat and I'm sure I'll be sore once I get out of bed, but it was worth it.

To completely cap off my evening, my sister arrived just after I got home to crash here so she can hang out today for the Old Port Fest. Yes, sir. This is what summer weekends should be like.
